Suicide is an urgent public health issue in India. India accounts for almost 25% of the total male suicides and 37 % of the total female suicides worldwide. Suicide prevention and support requires Mental Health Professionals to work with emergency care, families and peers of the client to provide adequate support and care.
Likewise, team leaders and people managers in organisation also need to bec0me aware of the first level support they could provide by being alert to possible suicidal tendencies amongst team members.
This month, at Infinum Evenings we address the issue of suicide, its real causes and myths associated; and its prevention. We will explore the basics of Suicide Prevention and why is it important for mental health professionals and team managers to be alert and aware; and provide the necessary timely support to clients or colleagues.
