In today’s fast-paced, competitive work culture, the drive to succeed as an organisation and/or as an individual, often hides the need for meaningful relationships. The emphasis is on the immediate goals and achievements, leading to a relentless hustle that can erode the sensitivity and awareness to maintain strong, healthy connections within teams.
As a result, professionals working in business organisations, often experience burnout, mental health struggles, strained relationships, and a decrease in overall productivity. Organisations, in turn, get impacted by this in terms of business goals as well as team stability; with employees either leaving out of frustration and inability to manage the pressures; or the organisation making changes and asking some employees to leave.
Bringing focus on team work, be it between superior and subordinates, or between peers, can make a huge difference to organisational performance and team morale.
And for this to happen, Empathy is a critical factor. Empathy with each other enables team members to keep the focus on the tasks on hand while ensuring everyone feels understood and valued.
